NVOC proposes an augmented reality device which will make cultural visits way more attractive.
The NVOC project starts from two simple facts:
- Augmented reality currently has very few general public applications while it offers many unequaled possibilities of interactions with the user.
- Museums, even if they are full of exciting things, are avoided by young people.
NVOC, which stands for New Vision Of Culture, aims to answer to these two problems by building an augmented reality device which will make cultural visits way more attractive. With the help of screen glasses, a high definition webcam and an embedded computer, the NVOC team has managed to create a working, immersive and compact augmented reality system prototype, giving to museums an infinity of possibilities to provide exclusive information to their visitors. The device still has to be improved, especially for the equipment point of view, but it is certain that museum will have such devices in the future.
